Gabriel is a physiotherapist from Brazil, with over 10 years experience in Musculoskeletal & Sports physiotherapy. Gabriel has worked with a range of sporting teams throughout his career as a physiotherapist, some of these include beach volleyball, triathlon, rowing, rugby union, soccer and all levels of weekend warriors athletes.
Gabriel is a Member of the Australia Physiotherapy Association (APA), Sports and Musculoskeletal national group (APAM). Gabriel is also a tilted Sports physiotherapist in Brazil from Brazil’s National Sports Society (SONAFE), to which he is still a member.
Between 2011-2016, Gabriel worked as the physiotherapist for the Italian Women’s Beach Volleyball team in preparation for the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Rio 2016 Grand Slam.
After the Rio Olympic Games, Gabriel moved to Australia. A highlight of his time so far has been to have work as a sports physio at GC2018 Commonwealth Games at the Beach Volleyball arena in Coolangatta.
In 2017, he achieved a title of Certified Mulligan Practitioner (CMP) a concept that uses Mobilisations With Movement (MWM) as a primary direction of treatment providing pain-free movement and allowing faster exercises progression. Always seeking to improve his skills as a physiotherapist, in 2018 Gabriel completed a certification in Running analysis and gait retraining from The Running Clinic (Canada).
Gabriel’s work as a physiotherapist utilises manual therapy techniques and exercise prescription to give his patients the best research-based treatment and help them achieve their goals, regardless of their level of activity.
While having specialised in treating elite athletes, Gabriel is committed to managing all levels of musculoskeletal conditions in athletes and non-athletes alike.
Gabriel has a special interest in tendon issues, such as Achilles Tendinopathy, rotator cuff, patellar, gluteal tendinopathy. Tendon problems is a passion and he brings the latest research-based treatment for tendinopathy. Gabriel is a candidate for an MPhil at QUT, investigating neurophysiological changes in Achilles Tendinopathy (AT) patients.
